Planned Water Outage on May 7th, 2024

Please note that there will be a scheduled water outage starting at 4 PM today, May 7th 2024. This outage is necessary for an installation crucial to advancing the elevated storage tank project. During this time, there may be low water pressure and, in some cases, no water. We apologize for any inconvenience and assure you that efforts are being made to minimize disruptions. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work towards improving our community's infrastructure. Thank you for your patience as we strive to keep this important project moving forward.

FAQ

  1. Why is the outage beginning at 4 PM?
    • In order to not have any impacts to the school district, the City made the decision to delay the shut down to 4 PM after it was noted during a project meeting that a shut down would be necessary for the installation of a blind flange on the elevated storage tank.
  2. What is being done that this is needed for?
    • The previous shut downs that resulted in boil water notices were from failed pressure transducers and from a connection on the main line from the isolation valve to the elevate storage tank that also feeds the elevated storage tank by the prison. Given this tie in, the isolation of just the elevated storage tank was not possible unless a valve or blind flange could be installed. In order to not delay the project any further it was recommended by the City Engineer to install a blind flange to act as an isolation point on the line without having to close the valve to the City. This would then allow water to still flow the elevated storage tank at the prison and maintain the system pressure and volume in the distribution system.
  3. Will a boil water notice be issued after this?
    • We will be issuing a boil water notice. Luckily with this being early on in the week, we will be able to have samples submitted the next day to a lab with an anticipated lift date of Thursday, May 9th at the earliest of Friday, May 10th.
