2021 Citizen of the Year - James M. Grant

The inaugural recipient of the award and recognition that bears his name, James M. Grant is the 2021 Citizen of the Year!

Although he was born in Vallejo, California, Mr. Grant graduated in 1979 from Round Rock High School. He furthered his education at TSTI and started working for NASA. In 1981 James enlisted into the Air Force where he served until his retirement as TSGT / E6. He was a diligent worker and progressed into teaching at a local catholic school and enjoyed spending time in the STEM program. He volunteered at the Bartlett Fire Department and possessed a passion for his community. Serving two seperate terms as Mayor of Bartlett, he created workshops, coordinated community events, and rarely missed a meeting of the City Council, boards and committees, and any other city-related event. He will be remembered for his standards of Integrity and for his compassion for others.

When a member of our community provides an outstanding display of citizenship and civic duty throughout the year, we commend their efforts by distinguishing them as the Citizen of the Year.

Mr. Grant will forever be a shining example of how the people in our community is what truly makes Bartlett a special place to call home!
