County Judge Bill Gravell, Jr. was sworn into office on January 1, 2019. Judge Gravell previously served as the Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018. 

While Justice of the Peace, Judge Gravell was named “2016 Judge of the Year” by the Texas Justice of the Peace and Constables Association. His office was the recipient of the "2013 Collections Program of the Year" state award from the Governmental Collection Association of Texas. In addition, in 2015 his court received the “Tyler Public Sector Excellence Award" for courts in America awarded by Tyler Technologies. At the 2015 Court Technology Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Judge Gravell received the national “2015 CITOC Innovation in Business Process” award for contributions to the judiciary in technology and court business processes presented by the Court Information Technology Officers Consortium. On September 3, 2015 Judge Gravell was appointed as a member of the Texas Judicial Council by Chief Justice Hecht for a term of four years to expire on February 1, 2019.

Judge Bill Gravell has an expansive sphere of experience that qualifies him to serve in his position. For the last 30 years of his professional life Judge Gravell has been involved in ministry. He spent twenty-two years as a Pastor of Sonterra Fellowship in Jarrell. Through pastoring, Judge Gravell has spent countless hours listening to the needs of the people and offering advice. Judge Bill Gravell recalls the vitally important role our community played in shaping who he is today. He wants to help provide that same strong guidance he received as a teen back to our community. As Justice of the Peace, he created a mentoring program for kids who are on the wrong side of the law.

Judge Bill Gravell believes it is of utmost importance the he gives his time to help make our community prosperous, safe and a great place to live. During this time in Jarrell, he served on the School Bond Advisory Committee, Jarrell Road and Bridge Committee, was appointed to ESD #5 by the Commissioners Court, was President of the Sonterra Home Owners Association and has been a mentor for students in elementary schools.
