City of Bartlett, TX Declares Local Disaster Following Severe Thunderstorms

BARTLETT, TX - April 29, 2024 - Mayor Mees of Bartlett, Texas, has declared a state of local disaster in response to the severe thunderstorms that inundated parts of the city on April 28, 2024. The declaration comes after heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and hazardous wind gusts inflicted significant property damage and widespread flooding across Bartlett.

The thunderstorms, which struck with unexpected intensity, unleashed torrents of rain and powerful winds, inundating streets, homes, and businesses throughout the city. The public works team, Mayor and residents worked tirelessly to provide assistance to affected residents yesterday to assist in removing blockages to the drainage system.

The community will continue to assess the damage caused to their properties and homes due to the 5 inches of rain that impacted the City in a short span of time. 

Residents are advised to stay informed through official City of Bartlett communication channels and to exercise caution when navigating flooded areas. Updates on recovery efforts and available assistance will be provided as the situation evolves.
