The City of Bartlett, TX, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Water/Wastewater Operator to join our team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water and wastewater treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of water and wastewater systems, possess relevant certifications, and demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and public health.
Job Requirements and Responsibility
- Operate and maintain water treatment and distribution systems in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Operates, maintains, and repairs malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant, including gauges, pumps, filters, and controls.
- Monitor and adjust chemical feed rates to ensure water quality standards are met.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment associated with water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment facilities, pipelines, and lift stations to identify and address issues promptly.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as leaks, equipment failures, and water main breaks, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collect water and wastewater samples for analysis and recordkeeping purposes.
- Assist with laboratory testing and analysis as needed to evaluate system performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including meter readings, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies as necessary to support the overall operation of the water and wastewater systems.
- Participate in training programs and continuing education opportunities to stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- This position is always on-call
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or technical training in water/wastewater operations preferred.
- Valid Class C or higher driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D or higher Wastewater Operator license and a Class C or higher Water Operator License.
- Experience operating and maintaining water/wastewater treatment systems is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
