Description:
The Journeyman Lineman performs skilled line work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution systems for City of Bartlett Utilities in accordance with departmental procedures, processes, and established safety protocols.
Principal Duties:
Perform highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the municipal electrical utility overhead distribution system including, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead the construction, repair, and maintenance of the City’s electric overhead distribution system to include energized primary and secondary lines;
- Operate and maintain bucket truck, digger/derrick truck, and related equipment;
- Install, maintain, and repair conductors, cross arms, insulators, switches, cutouts, capacitors, transformers, and related equipment;
- Remove vegetation from proximity of conductors;
- Install, maintain, and repair service drops and metering equipment;
- Remove, replace, set, and frame new and/or existing poles;
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
Applicants must be fully qualified to work on energized primary and secondary electrical distribution lines, related facilities, and equipment.
Duties require sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform assigned installation and maintenance duties as well as sufficient strength and stamina to climb, work at heights up to 50’, and lift and use equipment within utility safety standards.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
- Valid Texas Class A CDL;
- Must have 5+ years with electric distribution systems;
- Journeyman Lineman – Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Journeyman license or equivalent.
- Must maintain a residence within a 30-minute response time to city limits;
- Availability and willingness to participate, as needed in working overtime and/or on evenings and weekends;
- Ability to perform essential duties in an environment that entails a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures;
- Knowledge of construction, operation, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of electric overhead distribution systems;
- Ability to analyze electric problems;
- Skilled in operating and maintaining bucket truck, lift digger/derrick truck and related equipment;
- Knowledge and complete understanding of safety procedures;
- Keep records related to equipment and service calls;
- Communicate effectively and courteously with the public and other City employees;
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 100 lbs. and pull, push or drags up to 150 lbs. while performing job duties.
