November 7, 2023 Election - General

Election Information

The next General and Special Election will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023.  The city council called for a special election on August 14, 2023.  The Ordinance, calling for a special election to terminate the Bartlett Economic Development Corporation (Type B), including the ballot language is attached.

Why is the City placing this proposition on the ballot?

The Bartlett Economic Development Corporation was never properly set up, nor was a board ever appointed to it. The City Council recognized the sales tax dollars that had been collected have sat in reserve and have not been used since its inception. In placing the termination of the EDC up for election, if approved the sales tax would then be directed towards the general fund and be utilized for day to day support and operations for the City of Bartlett. The City Council also recognized that the Municipal Development District, which also receives a portion of sales tax, is working on a similar mission as to what was tasked with the EDC that had never been fully formed.

With Vote Centers, a voter can choose the most convenient polling location in the County during Early Voting and Election Day.
